Domestic and Hybrid Programs - Arabic

1st & 2nd-Year Arabic

8 weeks in Pittsburgh

Arabic at the beginning and intermediate levels taught at the SLI provides the equivalent of one academic year's worth of study. SLI expects that in the summer of 2021, our programs will return to an in-person format on the main campus at the University of Pittsburgh, with the added option to participate synchronously online.

SLI is now accepting applications to our Arabic program from those who plan to come to Pittsburgh and from learners who would like to participate online, synchronously via Zoom in the 2021 program. Pitt's classrooms are outfitted to accommodate remote participation in live classes on campus. Applicants may elect to decide later whether to attend in-person or online.

Arabic classes will meet Monday - Friday from 10:00 am - 3:50 pm ET for 5 academic hours per day with a break for lunch. In addition to intensive language classes, students also attend Arabic films, lectures on politics and culture, and activities featuring the cultures of the Arabic-speaking world on topics such as art, music, movement, and cuisine. Students will learn Modern Standard Arabic and the Levantine dialect.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch with us about your language learning goals in Arabic for summer 2021!
