Pitt's SLI offers domestic courses in eleven different languages, five study abroad programs (Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Montenegro, Latvia), post-program internship opportunities, and joint abroad programming in three languages with the IU Summer Language Workshop. SLI Stands in Solidarity with Ukraine

 

New for 2026!

We are delighted to announce that after an outstanding pilot year for our new intensive Russian program in Riga, Latvia during the 2025 program, we are opening up a 4-week, 4-credit Riga-only option in 2026! Students who enroll in the 4-week Riga program will study together with the Pitt+Riga students. This program carries a prerequistion of one year of Russian language study or equivalent.

Additionally, SLI will be converting all non-beginning domestic Russian courses to a 6-week, 6-credit format for summer 2026. The shorter term will lower the cost of participation for students and also allow for more Russian students to take part in an SLI post-program internship. SLI students can take part in credit-bearing post-program internships in which they get the chance to immediately apply their new language skills in a work environment.
